AES Progam Descriptions


 Develop your child's intellect through the royal game of chess! Current research has shown a strong link between chess and academic performance in a variety of areas, including mathematics and language arts. Chess has been proven to enhance children's motivation, concentration, focus, social skills, and creativity. Each class will consist of a fun, interactive teaching period. Students will be able to engage in tournament play throughout the week to practice. All are welcome and will learn under the guidance of an experienced Chess Scholars coach. 


  • A weekly, live 30 minute Chess Scholars coach provides engaging instruction.

  • Lessons are divided in grade levels and/or skill sets to teach strategy and techniques.

  • Access to online tournament play throughout the week with other Chess Scholars students

Learn how to draw an array of animals, from house pets to sea creatures to farm animals to jungle inhabitants! Discover your creativity and imagination as an artist, developing fine motor skills, style, and vision as we explore different artistic techniques through a variety of inspiring projects. Sketch and draw, shade and color, cut, glue, fold... create! See your imagination come to life! Learn about great artists from throughout history and the present day, through a weekly featured artist and fun, exciting games.  

  • A weekly, live 30 minute instructor session creating collaborative art and playing games that strengthen the concepts taught each week

  • A video lesson that highlights a different artist each week and shows step by step instructions for creating a simple craft with commonly found household items



Learn to #code with Afterschool Enrichment Solutions! This course will immerse students in the world of STEM learning.  Computer programming and engineering concepts are explored. Your child will have the opportunity to design games, explore animation, and combine music and art with coding. Topics covered include event handling, coordinates, conditional statements, user interface design, variables, logic statements, and synchronization. In addition to teaching the world of STEM, this course will also nurture students’ creativity and problem-solving skills. 



  • A weekly, live 30 minute instructor session covering engineering and coding concepts.

  • A video lesson that demonstrates the step-by-step process to create a coding project for the week.

  • A digital workbook that gives clear, detailed instructions on how to create the coding project.



Does your child have a “dramatic side”? You might have a budding Stage Star in your family! Our drama class introduces students to the craft of stage acting. During this exciting class, students will learn theatrical skills, improv basics and participate in interactive drama games. This is an opportunity for students to have fun, express themselves, interact with others online within the context of theatre arts.

  • A weekly live 30 minute instructor session highlighting important theatrical skills and playing theater games. Students who choose to do so may also perform scenes or monologues for the class

  • A digital book of monologues and scenes for students who wish to perform



No previous knowledge of Spanish is necessary. Learning Spanish is as easy as uno, dos, tres! Current research has found a positive link between learning a second language and cognitive and academic ability. In addition to developing a lifelong skill to communicate with people from other countries and backgrounds, other benefits include improved overall school performance and higher problem-solving skills. Children will learn numbers, colors, shapes, greetings, days of the week and more. We will be singing, clapping, and counting our way towards learning the Spanish language. 

  • A weekly live 60 minute instructor session.
